Latakia Pipe Tobacco

This specially prepared pipe tobacco, originally produced in Syria and named after the port city of Latakia, is now mainly produced in Cyprus.

Initially it’s sun-treated and then cured further over a pine or oak wood fire giving it an intense, smokey, peppery taste and aroma. Far too strong for most people’s tastes to smoke neat, it’s mostly used to add character and strength to Balkan-type mixtures.

NOT for the faint hearted!

Choose from 15g, 30g, 40g or 50g.

    A very strong Smokey aroma and taste. I use it when blending my own tobacco. When mixing it with other tobaccos it lends both depth, aroma and flavour. A wonderful product but much too powerful on its own.

    Very nice tobacco I have it on its own it’s very strong tastes nice on back of the throat and has a very strong aroma…I am trying different tobaccos and don’t stick with just one blend over the years have smoked many blends but this blend is in my top five

    A good strong tobacco. I’m probably one of a few pipe smokers that smoke this tobacco without mixing it. I thoroughly enjoy the strong taste and aroma. Certainly not a tobacco for a novice pipe smoker.

    I am constantly attempting to find a tobacco like the now gone Balkan Sobranie. I buy Balkan mixtures but none have anywhere near enough Latakia …… so l use it to blend.
